I love my new kiln for creating dichroic glass!
Dichroic means two colors and is sometimes referred to as fused glass. The glass appears to be different colors when viewed from different angles. Adding a thin layer of metallic oxides that transmit certain light wavelengths while reflecting others, causing an iridescent effect, creates dichroic glass.
The type of dichroic glass used in jewelry making was originally developed for use in the American space program. NASA developed a treated glass for face shields that would block harmful spectrums of light. The resulting substance is used on a variety of objects, such as satellite mirrors and scientific instruments. It is also found on commercial products such as mirrors and camcorder lenses.
Dichroic jewelry is made with a base piece of glass, then a layer of dichroic glass and then a top piece that is normally clear to enhance the dichroic effect. The “glass sandwich” is fired in a kiln to about 1500 degrees and then crash cooled to strengthen the piece.

In Home Jewelry Party
If you are interested in having a jewelry party in your home and are located in Orange County or North San Diego County (California), please email me. The party hostess will receive cash or credits towards her purchase for all items sold. Gather your friends together for a fun time of trying on jewelry!
All of my items are handcrafted. I use 14k gold-filled wire or sterling silver wire on almost all of my pieces (except the half bangles which are silverplate and goldplate to keep the price down). Please see FAQ for an explanation of gold-filled wire. If an item is of another metal, it will be noted in the description.
About the Artist: I absolutely love making jewelry. I started with wire wrapping and beadwork and now have found my way to precious metal clay and metalsmithing. Payments: PayPal is my preferred method of payment - you can make a credit card purchase through Paypal without having to create a PayPal account. You can also pay with PayPal using the e-check option. If you prefer to pay by mailing me the payment direct, please see instructions under FAQ's.
Shipping: I ship all items within two days of order via the Post Office. Shipping is only $2.50 for your total order - one item or ten!
Return Policy: If you order an item from my website and are unhappy with it, I will gladly refund your purchase price (less shipping) if you return the item in it's original condition. My goal is to have people happily wearing their original piece of jewelry knowing it is the only one exactly like it in the world!
